The south-central African Truth and atonement Process: Lessons for Future

Abstract
South Africa is perhaps the best example of a pastoral that suffered extensive world rights violations in her struggle against apartheid. In her romp to heal the wounds, both physical and psychological, with which South Africans emerged from the struggle, a honor and reconciliation commission (TRC) was established in 1995 to investigate cases of human rights violations. The commission was to investigate human rights violation throughout the replete(p) apartheid period, 1960 1994 and give a report in two historic period time. This paper looks at the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission with specific interest in its establishment, mandate, composition, process, achievements, challenges, criticism, and recommendations. The recommendations given ar drawn from the various lessons that other countries can learn from the South African experience.
