Summary
In the 1940 in Puerto anti-racketeering laws walled city of Old San Juan everybody knew each other. The children were playing on the narrow streets, while the adults were watching them from windows and balconies. Only one lonely male child, Jose Manuel, never join them. His grandmother was convinced that streets were too dangerous, and naught would change her mind. Three little sisters, Amalia, Evelyn, and Ailza, felt sorry for the boy and wanted to invite him for the traditional celebration of San Juan Night, thinking that it would help the situation.
Amalia, the most daring and brave one, came with the plan how to enter Jose Manuels house and get hold of his grandma for the permission to take José with them.
The girls were very afraid of the old woman at the beginning. But at the end, everything turned out to be not as with child(p) as they thought. Joses grandma even asked the sisters to join them for the dinner and promised to give an answer soon.
Back home, girls mother was upset because they forgot to ask her permission to invite Jose Manuel. But she was pleased at the similar time that little boy will join them for the celebration.
