George F. Kennan

George F. Kennan was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Kossuth Kent Kennan, and Florence James Kennan. His mother died two months later his birth, and George moved in with his step mom in Cassel, Germany. afterwards on, He attended Princeton University and earned his bachelors degree. Over the next two decades Kennan labored as a diplomat in relative obscurity at postings in Riga, Moscow, Vienna, Prague, and Berlin, and earned some reputation in the Soviet Union. In 1928 he was selected for linguist training, and it took him 3 years of jot school, where he became fluent in numerous langu mounts. In 1931 he was stationed in Riga, Latvia, as Third Secretary, where he studied Soviet economic affairs. Kennan believed that the Soviet Union would eventually have to make better its harsh grip on its citizenry and would change its transfer policies if the West could maintain a firm and consistent place of o pposition. He also served as Ambassador to the USSR and to Yugoslavia. When the U.S. opened tactful ties with the Soviet Union following the election of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Kennan tended to(p) U.S. embassador William C. Bullitt, to Moscow. Kennan one of the best professionally-trained Russian experts on the stave of the U.S. embassy in Moscow. George F.
